I will first cover the wife. Mrs Joanne Potter served in the Air Force from March of 1959 until March of 1979. She was a Flight Nurse and reached the rank of Lt. Her framed medal display provides most of this information on the plaque. She was awarded the Air Force Commendation medal and the Meritorious Service medal for the Vietnam War. Also included is another unknown medal, possibly Korean, that has her named taped on top as “Capt Joanne Mulhollen”. I assume this medal is from before she married her husband. Mr John Potter also reached the rank of Lt. Colonel and served from April of 1951 to October of 1979. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross, twice the Bronze Star, five times the Air Medal, and was awarded various other medals. His medal display includes a complete set of his miniature medals, including miniatures of his aviator wings. According to the medals in this estate, he reached Master Aviator. In this estate their is a small pin issued for flying 1000 hours in the B-47 bomber. My assumption is that he flew this plane. According to Mr Potters obituary, he was a fighter pilot. Only a few full size medals are included in this grouping, including his 2 named Bronze Stars, 2 Meritorious Service medals (unnamed), another unknown Vietnamese medal, full size aviator wings (3 grades), and also his full size ribbon bar. Various other small pins of airplanes and such are also included. Some pairs of the Lt. Col oak leaves are marked sterling while others are 1/20 silver filled. Also included is a sterling parachute jump wing pin, likely from the WWII period. There is a ton of stuff in this grouping so it is hard for me to photograph everything.
