
























Air Force officers service dress blue wool visor cap. The cap is from the estate of retired U. Colonel Angel flew 100 F-105 Wild Weasel combat missions “up north” during the Vietnam War. The cap is marked “FLIGHT ACE FIVE STAR” and was made by Flight Ace, San Antonio, TX. The cap is size 7. The national insignia is marked N. NEW YORK” and features a raised company shield/logo and “9M inside a raised shield. The exact age of the cap is unknown, but it may be from the 1950s. The cap has a foam rubber headband or ring that helps give it a “crusher” style reminiscent of caps worn by WWII aircrews. The foam rubber headband is marked with the cap size and patent number. The cap is a very nice example of an early U. Air Force officers service dress blue wool visor cap! The cap appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no apparent insect or similar damage to the fabric. There are a few very small stray threads on the fabric. The fabric lining on the interior of the cap appears to be in excellent vintage condition. The clear plastic covering over the fabric lining appears to be in excellent vintage condition with a few tiny bumps, indentations, and abrasions (these may be difficult to see in the photos). The brown leather sweatband on the interior of the cap appears to be in excellent vintage condition with a few spots, wrinkles, creases, minor loss of finish, and perhaps light soiling and/or discoloration from wear. The ribbon on the interior back of the cap is in very good to excellent condition with fraying on the ends of the ribbon. The foam rubber headband or ring appears to be in very good to excellent vintage condition with some wear on the printed size and patent information, and dried adhesive and/or stains where the ends of the foam headband connect. The silver-toned metal national insignia and chin strap buttons appear to be in good vintage condition with scratches, scrapes, abrasions, pits, indentations, and some loss of finish. Adjustable chinstrap appears to be in excellent condition. The black leather (or synthetic leather) visor appears to be in good to very good used condition with signs of wear and age, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, indentations, haziness, and some wrinkling of the material. There is some wear and minor loss of finish along the edge of the visor. The underside of the visor appears to be in excellent vintage condition with a small ink spot or stain.
