Great Britain and other allied countries downed aircrew were awarded this semi-official badge , for’Succeeding in returning to their Squadron on foot or by other means, long after their Estimated Time of Arrival’IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO COME BACK’. A certificate was originally issued with the badge stated “The member is permitted to wear the Emblem of the Winged Boot on the left breast of his flying suit”. The insignias were first out in the Western Desert in June 1941 by the Desert Air Force and were therefore originally cast in silver and made by local jewellers and silversmiths in Egypt. This is a lovely example of this rare badge. Made in real silver. It measures 56mm x 35mm and has a nice jeweller style pin on the reverse. The condition is excellent there is a liitle pitting as a result of the casting process. Please study the photographs carefully to ascertain the exact condition.
