It was the primary aircraft survival radio set used during WW2 and on through the days of the DC-6/7s and Lockheed Constellations. The system was stowed on the survival rafts. Depending on conditions its range was between 50 to 300 miles. This unit comes with the following accessories: Balloon and hydrogen generator (both unopened and with instructions), lap strap, signal lamp, antenna wire. The unit was removed from airline service some 50 years ago, so yes, the unit has nicks, scratches and wear.
