Genuine Gibson and Barnes (a designated US Gvt Contractor), vintage Type A-2 brown GOATSKIN LEATHER flight bomber jacket size 48 R Men’s Extra Large. This military-issue type jacket was designed and approved by the U. Air Force and made in the United States. The jacket shell is made of premium hand-stitched Leather. The jacket features dual knit cuffs and waist band along with a cotton-blend interior lining. In addition, the jacket has a U. Air Force-regulation snap down leather lined collar, shoulder epaulets, two snap down pockets, a full-length brass zippered opening with integrated wind flap, a metal hook under the collar to fasten the top of the opening, and brass grommets under each armpit for ventilation. WW2 “Gibson Girl” SCR-578 500 kHz Military Radio Transmitter USAF US Air Force. It was the primary aircraft survival radio set used during WW2 and on through the days of the DC-6/7s and Lockheed Constellations. The system was stowed on the survival rafts. Depending on conditions its range was between 50 to 300 miles. This unit comes with the following accessories: Balloon and hydrogen generator (both unopened and with instructions), lap strap, signal lamp, antenna wire. The unit was removed from airline service some 50 years ago, so yes, the unit has nicks, scratches and wear. A post WW2 US Air Force issue Gibson Girl survival radio set complete with contents and drop bag. It is in ecellent condition, the bag is prestine and seems to have been bundled up since the 1950’s. Included as seen in the pictures is the radio T-74 CRT-3 that is fully functional with the hand crank installed on the back , it too is in excellent condition with the only defect is a dent in the bottom of the unit as seen in the pictures. The strap is well marked and also in very good condition. The kite has never been out of the bag and has the tubes for the balloon inflators. Also are two balloon cans dated 1952, the head lamp and spare reel still sealed on the their cartons, all the pads and cushions. The only missing componet is the parachute. It has a few dates 1952 but is very similar to the WW2 model and configuration. The free listing tool. WWII Era USAAF Army Air Force Bailout Life Raft SCR-578 Emergency Radio Set – “Gibson Girl Radio” – Nice Condition – RARE. This was more commonly known as a “Gibson Girl Radio”. The set included the radio transmitter, spooled antena wire, ground wire, hand crank and two antena box kites in the original storage bags. It is dated 1945. Please see photos for condition. NOTE: this radio set has NOT been tested and is NOT guarnteed to work. During World War II, Germany developed a hand-crank 500 kHz rescue radio, the “Notsender” (emergency transmitter) NS2. The radio case curved inward in the middle so that a user seated in an inflatable life boat could hold it stationary, between the legs and above the knees, while the generator handle was turned. The distress signal, in Morse code, was produced automatically as the crank handle was turned. An NS2 unit was captured by the British in 1941, who produced a copy, the Dinghy Transmitter T-1333. Britain gave a second captured unit to the United States, which produced its own copy, the SCR-578. United States Army Air Forces. Aircraft carried the SCR-578 on over-water operations. Because of its hourglass shape, it was supplied with a fold-up metal frame. And a balloon with a small hydrogen generator, for which the flying line was the aerial wire. Power was provided by a hand cranked generator. The transmitter component was the BC-778. At 4.8 watts, giving it a range of 200 miles (300 km; 200 nmi). Keying could be automatic. Crystals were a scarce item for the U. During the war and the SCR-578 was not crystal-controlled. Check out my other items.
