












Air Force P-4A Flight Jet Pilot Helmet Museum Quality! The helmet belonged to Lieutenant Colonel Michael ” Mike ” Mitchell of Fresno, California. It’s obvious that this helmet meant alot to Mr. Mitchell because it was v ery well kept & stored through the years. This is one of the nicer P-4A helmets you will likely see. Earpads & leather suspension remain in great original condition! No holes, tears, etc. Also comes with 2 yearbooks and original helmet bag. Will be packaged very well to insure a safe arrival! Mike was a plankholder in the 3rd Special Operations Squadron, Dragon #12, one of only a handful of the original Airmen who established that highly effective combat unit from scratch in the most challenging of conditions. He was an expert marksman. Mike served in the United States Air Force for 15 years. He was a decorated pilot and flew the C-130, Predator drone, C-145, MC130E- Combat Talon and served several tours of duty in foreign countries including Afghanistan as a member of the 8th Special Operations Unit. He was also Chief of Standards and Evaluations of the Predator an unmanned aircrafts. He received numerous medals, awards, and commendations for bravery and service. The original P-1 hard helmet for jet pilots was introduced by the United States Air Force in March 1948. The Type P-4A was basically the same helmet with a sun visor added, improved earphones, and minor refinements to the web lining and straps. Oxygen mask was worn with this helmet which saw extensive service with the Air Force from 1956 to 1964. It was also used by many jet pilots of NATO and other friendly nations around the world.
