USSR Clock AChS-1 Military AirForce Aircraft Cockpit Sensor Plane Soviet Russian. Cockpit Panel Clock ACS-1 (??? -1) for a Soviet MIG / Su aircrafts. The original multifunction wind up 2-day chronometer. 25 jewels, “K” (bright-white, non-luminous digits / hands), with heater. Clock may displays some minor imperfections, but is guaranteed to be fully functional, historical military timepiece. This clock is fully mechanical, wind up item. It does not need any power source to be operated! These clocks have been designed to withstand speeds of Mach 3 / 1800 mph (2900 km/h) and altitudes of up to 100,000 feet (30 km). These robust timepieces are built to keep time flawlessly while pulling 6G’s! Built-in 27-volt heater ensures operation even at -60 °C (-75 °F). Each measures approximately 3 inches (8 cm) in diameter by 2½ inches (6.5 cm) deep and feature a two-day / three-day precision clock movement with 25 jewels, inside an all-steel, dustproof and waterproof case. For sale is a USN USAF Swiss Made Aircraft 8 Day Clock Type by Revue (Thommen). It was removed from a control panel which included a compass, oil-pressure gauge and altimeter. This listing is just for the clock. The second-hand was not ticking when it was first handed to us. I lightly shook it and it started ticking. It worked for about 5 minutes and then stopped again. We manually hand-gyroed it once more and again it started ticking… This time for about an hour. Prior to turning in for the night I jostled it once more and this morning I was pleased to see it still ticking and throughout the photo session. We did not attempt to wind it up since the issue is likely a desperate need for cleaning and applying new lubrication, or at the very least adding lubrication. We will let the next owner decide how to proceed. Were it mine, I wouldn’t ant anyone opening the back and delving into areas beyond their pay-grade. We are unsure of the age but it is likely from the 70s or earlier. Aside from the hesitancy of the second hand, there is no other functional shortcoming. It is in very good overall aesthetic condition with no indications of abuse or neglect. It spent it’s life here in southern California where the mild climate and moderate seasonal swing tends to be kinder to vintage and antique mechanisms compared to more weather volatile regions of the United States. We will be listing a 2nd Thommen clock today along with other related items like the Grimes meter lights. Please let us know of any interest in the balance of control panel items we mentioned.
