This is a vintage Air Force plane crash emergency escape axe, a must-have for collectors of militaria. The axe is in great shape and has been well-maintained over the years. The axe is perfect for those interested in field gear and equipment from the United States during the World War II era. For Sale Original Military Aircraft Canopy Breaker Knife Escape Tool Webber Aircraft Inc. Used to break out plastic or glass in order to escape from an aircraft cockpit. Used by all US military services in many types of aircraft (F4 / F104). Heavy weight machined steel brute of a tool, finished in overall flat black. These were not a part of the survival tool kit. But were situated in the cockpit and mounted on the right or left side. The pull-pin is missing. Have some surface scratches. For sale exact item as shown on the pictures. This tool would make a nice addition to any collection.

Ww2 RAF 43 pattern “escape” flying boots. Good used pair of flying boots as used and worn by pilots and aircrew. These boots were design to have a removable section that could be cut away. This left an ordinary looking shoe, thus aiding with blending in with the local population should an airman find themselves in an escape and evasion scenario. This pair are in overall good service used condition with minimal wear. The suede sections are very clean with minimal soiling, but one does have some stains possibly from oil or hydraulic fluid. Both zips are broad stamped. The zips are a bit stiff bit do operate and would benefit from some light lubrication. One does have a small section that is broken off as photoed but it doesn’t stop the zip from working. The interior sheepskin is very nice and clean with little mothing or damage. The boots are not marked but size is approximately a 9, with the sheepskin lining it would be closer to an 8. Overall a good displayable pair of boots, perfect for display in a RAF collection, museum display or reinactor display. Open to all offers just drop me a message. Ww2 RAF bomber aircraft, aircrew escape axe. Nicely air ministry marked escape axe as fitted to RAF aircraft. These axes were used by aircrew incase their aircraft crashed and they were trapped inside. The thin outer skin of the aircraft would be easily cut using one of these axes. This example is an air ministry marked example with a lovely early style crown and A. It is also stamped with stores reference number 27N/1. The metal components have light pitting but no major damage and could be cleaned slightly. The hard rubber handle shows wear but is in good condition with patent number still visible. These axes have become very popular and sought after, due to a recent feature on the BBC antiques roadshow. They make a lovely display piece and are perfect for a RAF collection, musuem display or reinactor use. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I’ll try my best to help out. World War 2 aircraft escape axe as issued by the Royal Air Force to the crews of heavy bombers and gliders. In very good condition, the rubber insulation on the handle is still. Intact and marked Tested 15000 Volts on one side and Patent No 515767 on the other. The head is marked “ELWELL 1944 27N/1″ along with the British Government Broad Arrow. Length is 15 1/2″, Maximum width across the head is 8″ and maximum thickness is 1 1/4. 550mm x 200mm x 32mm, 1079g. This is really a potential museum grade item. A similar axe was shown on BBC TV”Antiques Roadshow” on Sunday 17th January 2021 and was stated to be rare and as issued for use in heavy bombers such as the Lancaster & Halifax and also in gliders. A nice original World War Two era, rayon single sided map, with heat-treated edge, produced by MI9 from 1940 to 1942. A nice original World War Two era, silk single sided map, with heat-treated edge, produced by MI9 from 1940 to 1942.
