For parts or repair. This is the big, older 1950s BK-250. The wingspan is 19. Clearly it has issues. There are no stabilizers in the back, no rear wheel underneath, only one forward set of wheels. The wings have bent. It is missing one spinner in front of one prop. This was in an old attic. Still this is a very neat piece. Here we have a U. Air Force Tinplate Friction powered. Made in Japan by Mitsuhasi. Mitsuhasi logo above rear wheel – photo 5. Air Force USAF MATS Military Air Transport Service which was established in 1948. We understand that it was produced in the 1950s. The plane separates into two sections as shown in photos 8 & 9. Lithographed tin printed detail which is still in good condition; Two main tyres have some wear but still good (photo 6); both hub caps still present; rear fixed wheel good; friction drive is in working order. There are some scratches and a little age related fatigue to the tail as highlighted in photo 10. As you can see in the photos all propellers have two or more of the plastic blades missing. The blades do not spin round when the plane moves across the surface- we do not know if they should but wanted to point this out anyway. Large model – approx. Length 13.5 inches nose to tail; Wingspan approx. Weight before packing to post 250g. There is no original packaging but please be assured it will be well packed. QUITE A SCARCE ITEM GOOD ADDITION FOR THE COLLECTOR & GREAT FOR DISPLAY. If you look at all pictures closely you will not find a nicer quality BK-270 – been in storage for past 30 years. Colors not faded, no rust, all propellers work when plane pushed. It has a few minor paint chips here and there and you can see the minor chips upon close examination of the pics. I believe the original price is still stamped on the bottom of the one wing. This has been in my family since day 1 – I hope this finds a good family.. View my other auctions for many more Japan tin toys and tin airplane toys being listed. This awesome plane measures a large 23″ long with a 19″ wingspan. It is all heavy-gauge lithographed tin with a clear plastic cockpit canopy with tin litho driver inside! The strong friction motor still works well. This plane is in wonderful black and red colors with yellow highlights. It features opening bomb bay doors that open with the press of the button on top of the fuselage, which still works great (but sometimes gets caught closed and needs prompting to open). Inside the bay are the 2 original plastic 2.25 long bombs. This plane is in very good condition but does have some scratching and wear as shown, a couple of shallow dents o the fuselage and on one wing as shown, and it has a replacement red plastic nose cone.
