USAF B-25 Mitchell Bomber Instrument Pilot Instructor School Handbook Moody AFB. This is a spiral bound training book and it’s in good used vintage condition. There can be some discoloration on the covers, corner bends, light creases, and other typical paper issues. The book has a Dece 1954 date written on the front cover upper right. Not sure if that’s the date the instructor candidate received the book or if a 1954 book. I think the book is older than 1954, not sure. It has 24 chapters and the book is complete. There is a name on the inside of the front cover, probably the guy who owned the book back in the day. On the first page where the Major signed, There is a stamp that reads “This book property of Veterans Memorial Museum”.

Size: 8″x 10″. Authenticated: Guaranteed to pass PSA/DNA Type 1 Authentication. PSA/DNA Photograph Type Classification. Type I – A 1st generation photograph, developed from the original negative, during the period (within approximately two years of when the picture was taken). Type II – A photograph, developed from the original negative, during the period (more than approximately two years after the picture was taken). Type III – A 2nd generation photograph, developed from a duplicate negative or wire transmission, during the period (within approximately 2 years of when the picture was taken). Type IV – A 2nd generation photograph (or 3rd or later generation), developed from a duplicate negative or wire transmission, during a later period (more than approximately two years after the picture was taken). The flap on the fly of the flight suit is in FROG SKIN camo (photo 6). This flight suit has NO tags but this would measure out to be about a small. The exact dimensions are below. There is a zipper pocket on the left sleeve and a pen pocket on the right sleeve. There is a hole near the left cuff (photo 11) and two pin holes on butt and a few pin holes on the left calf (photo 10). All zippers, buttons and snap buttons are present and are working. The zippers are made by ACE, ROYAL and ARROW. The main zipper is made by ARROW. The one snap waist button is PRYM brand. There are no tags present in the flight suit but on the left cuff, there is a partial stencil of numbers or letters (photo 12). Exact Measurements of this Flight Suit. Chest (pit to pit) – 21. General Billy Mitchell Autograph''Father Of The United States Air Force'Rare
William”Billy” Mitchell [1879 1936] was an United States Army general who is regarded as the father of the United States Air Force. Mitchell began his military career in 1898, and was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and World War I where he commanded at the Battle of Saint-Mihiel and commanded all American air combat units in France. After the war he was appointed deputy director of the Air Service and he began advocating increased investment in air power, believing that this would prove vital in future wars. He argued particularly for the ability of bombers to sink battleships and organized a series of bombing runs against stationary ships designed to test the idea. He antagonized many people in the Army with his arguments and criticism and in 1925, was demoted from the rank of general to his permanent rank of colonel. Later in that year he was court-martialed for insubordination after accusing Army and Navy leaders of a treasonable administration of national defense for investing in battleships instead of aircraft carriers. Colonel Mitchell resigned from the United Sates Army in 1926. Mitchell received many honors following his death in 1936, including a commission by President Franklin Roosevelt as a Major General. He is also the only individual after whom a type of American military aircraft, the North American B-25 Mitchell, is named. The document is a check written on the Merchants Bank of Washington, dated August 15, 1921, and signed”WM. Mitchell” in black fountain pen. The check is completed in his hand, measures 3.25 x 8.00 inches, it has trivial toning/edge wear otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph of general Mitchell is rare and next to impossible to obtain for the military collector. The autograph is authentic, hand signed and is a nice example of this legendary Army commander and aviation pioneer.
