80’s Vintage CWU-36/P Summer Men’s Flyer’s Jacket 1st Pattern Nomex USAF. Up for grabs is a sweet 80’s vintage CWU-36/P flight jacket in a tag size Medium.. Please be sure to use measurements provided to determine fit. DLA contract date of 1980. This is the first pattern from the CWU-36/P Summer Men’s Flyer’s Jacket series. In 1978, the U. Air Force began offering a new summer flight jacket to replace the L-2B. This new flight jacket had a design similar to the cold weather flight jacket adopted in 1973, the CWU-45/P. Based on the bitter experience of the Vietnam War, this intermediate flight jacket used flame-resistant fiber; Aromatic Polyamide (Nomex) for the first time. The fire-resistant shell is rough and tough. It is known for excellent thermal, chemical, and radiation resistance. This series of jackets were designed to perform well in and out of the aircraft and would withstand adverse conditions. This early pattern also features a bi-swing back for effortless arm movement, making this model extremely comfortable to wear and probably one of the most practical flight jackets ever issued. Measurements, laid flat, are as follows. This jacket is previously owned but in very good/excellent vintage condition.. All zippers and snap buttons are functional, and seams intact. Knit cuffs and hem are all in great shape, no holes or wear evident. Never worn or used; no flaws or wear. Possibly worn with little to no signs of wear and no flaws. Previously worn or used with no noticeable flaws. Previously worn with noted minor flaws not noticeable for wear. Minor flaws as noted. Minor repairs may be required. Numerous noted flaws, possibly wearable after care or repair. Damage that cannot be repaired. Possible use as study piece or cutter. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting. WW2 RAF 41 pattern sidcot flying suit. Nice example of a sidcot suit as worn by aircrew and pilots during ww2. This example is a good service used piece with some wear. The suit has some repairs but has no major issues. Normally the zips on these suits corrode badly and are inoperable. However the zips all work on this suit, the main zips appears to have had a period replacement, but it is a period “SWIFT” replacement. All other pocket, cuff and ankle zips are A. M crown marked examples all working nicely. The suit has a nice brown coloured collar fitted. Labelled and marked to the interior as a size 3 with faint A. M crown ink stamp. Stores reference number 22C/775. Size measurements are handily on the label so please take a look. Overall a good service used suit, Ideal for completing a RAF bomber aircrew display. Becoming harder to find now in such lovely condition. Ideal for a ww2 RAF musuem aircrew display, RAF collection or reinactor display. Ww2 RAF 43 pattern “escape” flying boots. Good used pair of flying boots as used and worn by pilots and aircrew. These boots were design to have a removable section that could be cut away. This left an ordinary looking shoe, thus aiding with blending in with the local population should an airman find themselves in an escape and evasion scenario. This pair are in overall good service used condition with minimal wear. The suede sections are very clean with minimal soiling, but one does have some stains possibly from oil or hydraulic fluid. Both zips are broad stamped. The zips are a bit stiff bit do operate and would benefit from some light lubrication. One does have a small section that is broken off as photoed but it doesn’t stop the zip from working. The interior sheepskin is very nice and clean with little mothing or damage. The boots are not marked but size is approximately a 9, with the sheepskin lining it would be closer to an 8. Overall a good displayable pair of boots, perfect for display in a RAF collection, museum display or reinactor display. Open to all offers just drop me a message. The original Itshide soles are ok, although worn, the heels may be period replacements? The tongues are present, some moth damage. This pattern of boots came into issue with the RAF during the Second World and were particularly popular with Bomber Command, earning the nickname of’bomber boots’. The boots are made from a brown coloured suede and feature a zip front, rubber soles by’Itshide’. The interior of the boots is sheepskin lined for warmth. Both boots retain their original zips which match and work as they should. The soles are originals and are a little cracked, as they so often are. The leather flap which sits behind the zipper on each boot bears size 7. The overall condition of the boots is good and they display well. There are some sections of the rubber galosh missing. A nice example of this pattern of boots which whilst not perfect would make a solid addition to any RAF or USAAF collection. This reproduction was made by myself as an exact copy of an original 1932 Pattern Life Preserver on display at the Battle of Britain museum in Hawkinge, Kent. It is made of the correct weight pure Irish linen. The inside of the collar has been proofed in the same style as an original. This reproduction uses many original components including buttons, buckles, webbing tape and even a wartime era Lightning Sliding Fastener. The instructions and labels on the Mae West have been meticulously matched to copy the ones found on numerous originals. The Mae West also features a set of Kapoks stuffed with hand teased Java Kapok as per the original specifications. Ive also included an mock inflation tube to complete the look. This reproduction is true to an original size Medium and intended to be suitable for a man of a chest measurement 36 – 40 inches, however it can probably be worn up to 44 inch chest over a service dress. In my own opinion this is the best reproduction on the market. A lot of time and expense has been spent in getting it as close in appearance and feel to an original. With a little bit of age and wear it will probably fool most experts. Perfect for display in a collection or worn at a reenactment. This reproduction will not disappoint.
