VTG USAF B-3 Style Original Shearling Sheepskin Flight Jacket. The shearling lined B-3 sheepskin bomber jacket was designed and first manufactured in the 1940? S to help pilots endure the extreme cold experienced in the cockpit. This is a vintage USAF style shearling jacket using the same original B-3 styling. This is a vintage B-3 shearling sheepskin jacket approx 2kg in weight, with a soft shearling sheepskin pile, guaranteed to help keep you warm. Used and in fair to good vintage condition with general signs of wear and heavy abrasion throughout, along with discolouration, in particular to the elbows and pockets. This jacket has a great broken in look. Please see all pictures. Front chunky metal zip. 2 lower welt pockets. 2 leather collar belts. 2 hem side cinch belts. Cuffs can be worn up or down. Size : No size on label, however it fits like M / L (UK Sizing) with a 48in full external chest and the overall fit/ arm length – but it depends how loose you like to wear. Please note this has thick sheepskin internally so you need to allow room for movement (please see below for all key measurements to check against a similar garment of your own to ensure a good fit). Even though it is your favorite brand and your size, it may not fit the same! This is a fantastic set that I picked up this summer from a local estate. This is a leather and shearling Air Force US Army bomber flight jacket and pants set. It has the name “R L Carey” on the front and also scratched into the top of one pocket. The tag on the jacket reads TYPE B3, Drawing No. 42-5111-P, Property, Air Force U. Army, Rough Wear Clothing Co. From my research I have found this was the first company to make these flight suits. It is worn and used but is in very good vintage condition with no damage or repairs. The tag in the pants reads TYPE A-3, DWG. 334 H 5592, A. The pants are in good condition also but the zipper on the right leg front is missing some teeth so it doesn’t work and will need to be replaced. The jacket is marked a men’s size 38 Regular. PLEASE CHECK THE MEASUREMENTS. Shoulders: 19″, Armpit to Armpit: 21″, Sleeve Length (from Shoulder): 25″, Length at the Back: 26.5″. The pants are marked a size 40 Regular. Waist: 21″, Inseam: 32″. All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat and ON THE OUTSIDE, double where necessary. This set is in good vintage condition. It comes from a smoke-free home. We do recommend that all pre-owned clothing be washed or dry cleaned before worn. I will answer you as quickly as I can. All payments are due within 2. This jacket is made from good quality sheepskin leather which is soft and supple tanned in USAF brown, the other side is a thick warm sheepskin fleece finished in cream. This jacket is suitable as a winter jacket or for the cold mornings ahead or indeed for an open top sports car! Similar jackets cost in the region of. A bargain for someone. 100% leather tanned in wartime USAF brown. 100% genuine sheepskin fleece finished in cream. Double stitched cowhide seams/trims. Main heavy duty zip. Two front hand warmer pockets. Neck straps with buckles. The jacket will fit a size 42 chest, 32 inch waist max tall fit. This jacket is really suitable for someone over 5’10 slim fit. Please view jacket measurements below which are taken laid flat and zipped up. Shoulder seam to shoulder seam = 21 inches. Underarm to underarm = 23 inches. Shoulder seam to end of cuff = 23 inches. Underarm to end of cuff = 15.5 inches. Collar seam to bottom = 29 inches. Waist = 32 inch waist max. Note: These measurements are taken with the cuffs fully extended. You can turn these up if needed. This is an original WW2 B-3 Flight Jacket. These were used on high altitude bombing missions by the United States Army Air Forces. Made by Werber Sportswear. USA Air Force log on sleeve has nice color. Leather is not dried and is still flexible, but it has some flaking on the surface. Zipper and snaps are tarnished blue. Metal buckles have light rust and/or tarnish. One tear near the front hem, and two very small tears by the bottom hem near zipper (see pic), otherwise no rips, no holes. Has two leather straps under the collar and one on each side/back near the base (one has a loop that has come undone on one end). One outer shell pocket. Shearling line is thick and plush. Shearling collar has some greying. I’ve not tried cleaning this as I did not want to mishandle it and/or ruin the integrity. I do not see any prior repairs. Due to the tarnishing on the zipper teeth, I did not zip this for measurements, but I did lay it flat and pulled the zipper edges together. Shoulders (seam to seam):19. Chest (pit to pit x 2): 40. Length shoulder to hem: 25. Outer sleeve (seam to cuff end): 24. Inner sleeve (pit to cuff end): 18.
